Urgent needs for adaptation up to $650 million per year by 2012.
- Kenya needs to develop a coordinated policy on climate adaptation and low carbon futures. This was the key message Downing told the Kenyan Leadership Retreat, organised by the Government of Kenya.
Downing presented the upcoming DFID/Danida report on the economics of climate change in Kenya. The study, presented to the Office of the Prime Minister on 4th December, supports development of a national policy and sectoral strategies. The urgent needs for adaptation are up to $650 million per year by 2012. In the road to Copenhagen, and beyond, three foundations are institutional capacity, knowledge management and multi-stakeholder funding for developing early prototypes of successful action.
