The Economics of 350

This article, based on a 2009 SEI and E3 Network report, examines the range of estimates for the cost of reducing atmospheric carbon levels to 350 parts per million of CO2, now widely considered to be the "safe" threshold to minimize the risk of catastrophic damages. The authors examine five different economic models and conclude that reaching 350ppm would cost only 1 to 3 percent of global GDP – similar to one year's worth of growth, or to many nations' military spending.
