The social dimensions of environmental issues

Environmental issues have far-reaching social implications in China. Likewise, the country’s rapid social changes are affecting the environmental agenda. To create a “Harmonious Society”, the Chinese political leadership must understand this complex interplay.
As separate phenomena as social unrest, corporate cultures and the relation between media and the public are all affected by environmental issues. The China Cluster aims to understand and analyze the social implications of environmental issues in China, as well as the impact of social changes on the Chinese environmental agenda.
