He has been working at SEI Oxford since 2007; he is a Visiting Staff member at MMU Business School. He is a member of ESSA (European Social Simulation Association).

Richard Taylor is a Senior Research Fellow with SEI in Oxford. Richard works on understanding environmental-related decision-making and adaptation processes.

Richard and colleagues have worked on many climate adaptation and mitigation projects including MEDIATION, HEALTHY FUTURES, ADAM, C3D+ and IMPACT2C. He is the developer of the climate adaptation options explorer (ADX) tool and contributes often to the weADAPT knowledge base on ‘adaptation decision-making’ and other subjects.

He has also been applying agent-based social simulation to address environmental management and development problems, including modelling socio-cognitive factors affecting disaster preparedness, impact of shrimp farming on rice paddy ecosystems and dependent livelihoods, and the emergence of sustainable agro-forestry from farmer decision-making in Cameroon.
