Daniel Morchain
Centre: Former Staff
Daniel Morchain worked as a Researcher at SEI Oxford during 2012.
Daniel's focus of research has been on adaptation of European and Asian cities to climate change and to other environmental and socio-economic pressures. In Asia - especially in the Philippines - he has worked with local governments in the development and implementation of strategies to adapt to climate change, as well as at creating links between communities' natural resource management and poverty alleviation measures. In Europe, Daniel has conducted research on cities' vulnerabilities and responses to changing climatic and environmental conditions. He has led and collaborated in writing reports on the issues of climate change adaptation, resilience and disaster risk that have been published by the EEA, the ETC/ACC (now ETC/CCA), the Council of Europe and the Committee of the Regions.
Before working at SEI, Daniel was working with ICLEI - Local Governments for Sustainability. He has an MSc in Environmental Management and Policy from Lund University's IIIEE and has completed postgraduate courses on climate change adaptation at the UN University in Tokyo.
