Karin André

Karin André is a Senior Research Fellow and Team Lead for the Cities, Communities and Consumption Team within the Division for Societies Climate and Policy Support at SEI Headquarters in Stockholm.

Her main areas of research and experience include participatory research methods and co-production of knowledge with focus on the role of science-based stakeholder dialogues in managing complex environmental issues. Her research interests relate to sustainable transitions and governance at the local level including topics such as: climate adaptation, risk and vulnerability, co-design of climate services, sustainable consumption, and the circular economy. Regional focus is most often centered on Sweden and northern Europe.

Previous experiences include the interdisciplinary research programme Mistra-SWECIA on Climate, Impacts and Adaptation (2008-2015) where she was part of the research team developing a participatory process on climate adaptation processes in the Swedish forestry sector. She has also acted as SEI representative on the Swedish government-led Programme Council of the Swedish National Forest Programme (2015-2016).

Karin has an interdisciplinary background and holds a PhD in Water and Environmental Studies (2013) and a Msc in Environmental Science (2007), both from Linköping University, Department of Thematic studies (TEMA). During her PhD studies she was part of the Centre for Climate Science and Policy Research (CSPR) at Linköping University.
