SEI has been selected by the American Council of Learned Societies (ACLS) as a host organization for the Mellon/ACLS Public Fellows Program.

The program is a career-building fellowship to expand the reach of doctoral education in the humanities. In 2018, ACLS -- a private, nonprofit federation of 75 national scholarly organizations -- will place 25 recent PhDs from the humanities and humanistic social sciences in two-year staff positions at partnering organizations in the U.S. government and the nonprofit sector.

SEI will host one of those fellows in its Seattle office, starting in September 2018. This Climate Policy Associate will contribute to SEI’s work on emerging topics in climate policy, which may include, among others, low-carbon cities, carbon pricing strategies, climate finance, and the climate implications of oil and coal extraction.

"We're excited to bring a new perspective to our climate work and for the opportunity that this fellowship provides," said SEI U.S. Center Director Michael Lazarus.

The fellowship program is made possible by a grant from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. Fellows will receive an annual stipend of $67,500 and health insurance. They must possess US citizenship or permanent resident status, as well as have a PhD in the humanities or humanistic social sciences.

The application deadline is March 14, 2018 (9pm EDT). For more information, please visit http://www.acls.org/programs/publicfellowscomp/
