Integrating Surface Water and Groundwater into a Single Water Resources Modeling Tool for California

Cal-Sim III is a water resource planning model that was jointly developed by the California Department of Water Resources and the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation. It is the primary model used in statewide water resources planning. SEI has been asked by the United States Bureau of Reclamation to improve its representation of groundwater for the Central Valley of California.

SEI is doing this by parameterizing the behavior of other more complex groundwater models. The completed model will allow water planners to study innovative approaches to water management in the context of the statewide water delivery system.
