Support to the UN National Communications Support Programme (NCSP)

The UN’s National Communications Support Programme (NCSP) is funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) to provide technical assistance to developing countries for preparing their Second National Communications (SNCs).

Charlie Heaps of SEI US has been working with the NCSP to organize a series of regional training workshops on using SEI’s LEAP system for climate change mitigation assessment.

The first of the workshops took place in Cairo, Egypt in April 2006. A total of 33 participants from 19 countries attended.

The Workshop highlighted good practices and lessons learnt on conducting mitigation analyses during the preparation of Initial National Communications (INCs).

Based on the success of this workshop, the NCSP is organizing additional training workshops in partnership with SEI. A second workshop is planned in Bangkok in March 2007.
