The Great Transition Initiative is a global network intended to elaborate visions and strategies for sustainable development and conducted in partnership between SEI and Tellus Institute in Boston.

The Great Transition Initiative is a global network intended to elaborate visions and strategies for sustainable development and conducted in partnership between SEI and Tellus Institute in Boston.

From 2006 the bulk of activities related to GTI are coordinated by Tellus rather than SEI. However, SEI staff continue to be involved in some GTI related activities. Sivan Kartha authored the 2006 GTI paper in the series "Frontiers of a Great Transition" entitled Climate Change: Redemption through Crisis (external link, PDF) and Eric Kemp-Benedict continues to collaborate with Tellus staff on the joint development of global scenarios using SEI’s PoleStar software.
