SEI is coordinating the production of a scientific report for policy makers on the potential methods, and benefits from simultaneous mitigation of air pollution and climate change in the Asia-Pacific region.
The aim of the report is to support national efforts to address air pollution in the Asia Pacific by providing actionable options for tackling air pollution in the context of sustainable development.
The report will identify a package of a limited number of measures that bring the greatest benefits for human health, crop yields, climate, environment as well as socioeconomic development. The report will also provide a clear picture of the costs and benefits of each measure and will offer implementation guidance on each one with real life case studies. It will also act as a platform to share experiences with practical actions to prevent and control atmospheric pollution. It is expected that the outcome will aid countries in the region to achieve some of the key Sustainable Development Goals.
The report has been commissioned by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) who host the Climate and Clean Air Coalition and implements the Asia Pacific Clearn Air Partnership who are jointly developing a regional assessment report on air pollution in the region.
