Heidi Tuhkanen is a senior expert at SEI Tallinn.
Since joining SEI in 2008, Heidi has worked on a broad set of sustainable development issues involving governance, decision-making processes, and assessments. Heidi’s academic background is in urban sustainability, but in addition to urban climate mitigation and adaptation, urban green areas, and disaster risk, her work has also included the interaction between the private sector, society, and the environment. Heidi has also been involved in a series of projects related to the economic valuation of the marine environment around the Baltic Sea and participates in the BalticSTERN research network (Baltic Systems Tools for Ecological-economic evaluation: a Research Network).
Heidi holds a Master´s degree in Urban and Environmental Management (MSc) from Wageningen University (NL).
Areas of focus include ecosystem services/ecosystem approach, corporate sustainability, policy making decision support, supply chain governance, sustainable development goals, marine issues, capacity building within local authorities, disaster risk, environmental management.
