Othniel Yila

Former employee

Othniel Yila was an SEI Associate at SEI Africa. His research interests focus on the intersection between smallholder agricultural land management and sustainable development; an analysis of climate change and natural disaster risk reduction; vulnerability assessment and policy analysis; and understanding of societal and individual risk perception of climate change on food security and livelihoods.

Prior to joining SEI’s Africa Centre in February 2013, Othniel spent 18 months as a post-doctoral fellow at the University of the South Pacific (USP) in Suva, Fiji Islands. Through his involvement in a number of interdisciplinary collaborative research activities in the region, he contributed in bringing USP and the South Pacific region forward in its effort to create capacities in social science research on the impacts of climate change and in helping communities to better cope with, adapt to and recover from the impacts of climate change.
