Title: Communications Officer

    Keith Begg joined SEI Stockholm in January 2018 as a Communications Officer and will focus primarily on the development and coordination  of SEI’s presence at Almedalen and the Science Forum.

    Keith previously worked as a Communication Officer for Civil Rights Defenders in Stockholm  for over four years where he is was responsible for the project management, writing and editing of one of Sweden’s largest human rights magazine, Time to Act.

    Keith was also responsible for the creation and editing of the majority of the generated news stories, op eds and press releases, country reports in English and frequently traveled to Southeast Asia and the Western Balkans to cover human rights stories. Prior to that Keith worked in Palestine for a joint Israel/Palestine think tank focusing on the plight of Bedouin communities from an environmental and economic perspective caused by the construction of the separation wall by Israeli authorities.

    He holds a BA in Insurance and European Studies from the University of Limerick, Ireland and is ACII accredited in Risk Management from the Chartered Insurance Institute in London, England.

    Keith has a Master’s in International Relations and his thesis entitled “Water as a Source of Conflict in the Jordan River Basin” looked at how stronger riparian states in a geo-politically volatile area can incite conflict and at times war as a scarce resource such as water is diverted from primary sources to feed the needs of the more dominant neighboring country.
